Terry Nauheim manipulates sound recordings as physical objects, seeking
new models of authorship. She has exhibited her artwork at the AC Institute, New
York City; Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Contemporary Museum, Baltimore; Delaware
Center for Contemporary Arts; the Drawing Room, London; Musée Art Contemporain Lyon;
and the Sculpture Center, Long Island City. Her work has been included in festivals
including “Biennale Musique en Scène,” Lyon”; “New York, New Sounds,” New York City;
“New York Electronic Art Festival,” New York City; and “Visual Sounds Festival,”
Cologne. She was distinguished as an Artist-in-Residence in Sound Art at
Harvestworks (2005); a participant in the Bronx Museum of the Arts “Artist in the
Marketplace” program (2003); and a recipient of the Maryland State Arts Council
Individual “New Genre” Artist award (2002). Her work will be featured in the
upcoming publication, “Transmission Arts: Artists and Airwaves,” PAJ Publications;
additional publications include Rhizome, art@radio, “Link:
Science/Technology/Innovation in the Arts,” and “Nomads Audiophile. In addition to
producing her work, Ms. Nauheim teaches computer arts as a full-time professor at
New York Institute of Technology.
