Steve Roden

Steve Roden is an artist living in Pasadena California. His work includes painting, sculpture, drawing, film/video, sound, text and performance. Since the mid-1980’s he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions including: The Menil Collection, Centre Georges Pompidou Paris, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, UCLA Hammer Museum Los Angeles, Museum of Contemporary Art EMST Athens Greece, Singuhr-Horgalerie in Parochial Berlin, The Kitchen New York, La Casa Encendida Madrid. Site specific sound works include Daniel Libeskind’s Run Run Shaw Media Center Hong Kong, James Turrell Skyspace at the Henry Art Museum Seattle, and the RM Schindler House/Mak Center for Art and Architecture Los Angeles, and Alvaro Siza’s pavilion for the Serpentine Gallery London. In 2011, the Armory Center for the Arts mounted a 20 year survey of Roden’s work, curated by Howard Fox. Roden has received numerous grants and residencies including: Foundation of Contemporary Arts, DAAD research fellowship, Chinati artist in residence.
